The nostrification fee in 2026 is at most PLN 4,825

Since 1 January 2026 the minimum salary of a professor has been PLN 9,650, so the legal cap on the fee has risen from PLN 4,685 to PLN 4,825.

The Law on Higher Education and Science caps the nostrification fee at 50% of the minimum monthly basic salary of a professor at a public university (Art. 327(6)). Since 1 January 2026 that salary has been PLN 9,650, so the fee can be at most PLN 4,825.

The previous cap was PLN 4,685. Some university ordinances from 2024 still give that amount, for example at the Faculty of Medicine of the Jagiellonian University Medical College and at the Medical University of Lublin. Check the current amount with the dean’s office before you pay.

  • Each university decides when you can apply for an exemption from the fee.
  • The deadline for paying the fee cannot be shorter than 14 days (§ 7 of the regulation on nostrification).
  • A university that has no right to nostrify in the discipline refuses to conduct the procedure and charges no fee (Art. 327(7)).
